Privacy

Civitascope records as little as it can: no account, no advertising, no cookies while you read, and page views are counted without identifying you. This page says what is recorded, why, and what your rights are under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

Who is responsible

The controller is Andras Horvath, horand79@gmail.com,contact@civitascope.eu.

Counting page views

We count page views with Pirsch Analytics, run by Emvi Software GmbH, Nickelstraße 1b, 33378 Rheda-Wiedenbrück, Germany. When you open a page, our server, not your browser, sends Pirsch the address of the page, your IP address, your browser's User-Agent and language settings, and the page you came from. No script and no cookie is used for this.

Pirsch does not store your IP address. It turns the IP address, the User-Agent, the date and a salt into a hash, so a visitor can be recognised for at most 24 hours. Pirsch keeps the page visited, the referring page, the language, the time, the browser, the operating system, the device type and a rough location (country and city); it keeps the User-Agent separately for up to three months.

We do this because we want to know which stories are read (our legitimate interest, Article 6(1)(f) GDPR). You can object to it at any time by writing to us.

The web server

The site is hosted by Sybell Informatika Kft.. Like every web server, it receives your IP address and browser details with each request, and its access logs may record them to keep the site running and secure (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).

Cookies and storage in your browser

Reading Civitascope sets no cookies. If you choose the light or dark theme, the choice is kept in your browser's local storage and is never sent to us. Fonts and images are served from this site, so reading a story makes no request to another company. Links to Eurostat take you to Eurostat's site, where Eurostat's own privacy rules apply.

If you write to us

We use your e-mail address and message only to answer you and to correct a story if needed, and delete them when they are no longer needed for that.

Your rights

Write to us to use any of them. You can also complain to a data protection authority. In Hungary this is the Nemzeti Adatvédelmi és Információszabadság Hatóság (NAIH), Falk Miksa utca 9–11, 1055 Budapest, ugyfelszolgalat@naih.hu, naih.hu.
